This instrument is used in the testing of laboratory chemical fume hoods. The specs are: SF6 Test Instrument – Foxboro Miran 1A (Without Inlet Filter), calibrated W/ known sources of SF^ in “cal bags” (A conversion factor of).110 PPM is the same as 0.055 Volts) MIRAN 1A-CVF SPECIFICATIONS: Single-beam spectrophotometer; direct meter readout in absorbance units (AU) or percent transmission (%T). SOURCE: Nichrome wire wound on a ceramic rod; energy peak at 3.5 um. WAVELENGTH: Selectable from 2.5 to 14.5 um. SCAN TIME: 9 minutes. RESOLUTION (Approximate): 0.05um at 3 um; 0.12 um at 6 um, 0.25 um at 11 um. NOISE LEVEL: Less than 1 X 10-4 AU (with 1 mm slit, 1 second response time, and without sample cell). DRIFT: Less than 0.004 AU in 8 hours (at 3.5 um, 23C, and without sample cell). PHOTOMETRIC ACCURACY: Better than +/- 0.5% of the upper range value (eg. +/- 0.000125 AU with 0.025 AU upper range value). SLIT SETTINGS: 0.5, 1, 2 mm and closed. RESPONSE TIME: 1, 4, 10, and 40 seconds for a 90% recovery from an input step. RANGES: 0 to 0.025, 0 to 0.1, 0 to 0.25, 0 to 1 AU an 0 to 100 %T. OUTPUT TO RECORDER: 0-1V full scale.
